Slumlord city. I Wouldn’t Wish Living Here on My Worst Enemy
Pros
Location, the neighborhood, my neighbors
Cons
The unresponsive super, the massive cockroach infestation, managements refusal to tell us the results of the asbestos tests after a MASSIVE building fire that forced five units to vacate, the fact we didn’t have a peephole (it was just a hole), the rotting floors, the radiator that was spraying hot water everywhere (didn’t get fixed until DOB stepped in), the fact that we didn’t have a carbon monoxide detector for the first eight months of our year long lease (despite telling us they had), the fact that they never got around to installing locks on our windows, the way they tried to pressure us into signing the lease renewal three days after the fire and lied about when we needed to respond to them (the lease gives us 60 days, Ursula insisted we tell her immediately), I could go on forever
Advice to the owners
It’s adamant they do not care about the quality of life of the people living here, best thing to do is sell the building to someone who does
Good area bad management
Pros
Area is good
Cons
The management takes advantage of the fact that this is a desirable area to provide minimum maintenance to property. The high demand of apartments and low inventory makes it easier for owners to get away with these tactics.
