If you never make any noise of any kind you will love this building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is good, never saw a cockroach. My unit had hook ups for W/D which is near impossible to find in NYC. There was an exterior hallway door with a lock before you get to the apartment providing more security from the street. The apartment was an ok size to live.
Cons:
THE NEIGHBORS!! They forced me out when I would have stayed much longer. There are a few rotten apples that ruined the entire building for me. My dog has separation anxiety and I had to leave her at the apartment in the middle of the night for around three hours once and a neighbor reported me to the state for noise disturbance because he heard muffled barking noise. And these complaints came from someone who had dogs themselves. I know exactly that it sounded muffled from his apartment because they sent me videos of what it sounded like from their apartment. There are also very passive aggressive attitudes about having the trash and recyclables just so. I had trash brought back up to my apartment and put on my doorstep because a neighbor didn’t think the way I had arranged it near the trash was satisfactory. I wasn’t even allowed to have a rug in front of my door in the hallway, every time I put one out a resident would fold it up and put it by my door. I also once watched TV on volume 40 (my tv speakers are not very loud so this was the optimal hearing volume) and had someone come downstairs before quiet hours and complain to me. Don’t move here unless you want to feel jailed by some evil HOA type committee in your own home.
Advice to owner:
Do not allow any tenants to have pets because despite other tenants having pets because they will be bullied and reported to the state if your animal so much as makes a peep. WARN new tenants coming in of just how quiet you are expected to be at all times when living there. Make sure they know how strict the garbage policy is. If I had known how horrible this would have been for me beforehand I never would have moved here
