Overall good but broken elevator
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lots of space, reasonably thick walls, clean and functional apartments with good light. Excellent super (as of 2024) who is responsive and friendly. Heat is sufficient but not overwhelming.
Cons:
Elevator has been broken repeatedly for several months, little information is provided as to timeline for fixing, etc.

Typical rent stabilized pre war building in Flatbush
Former Tenant
Pros:
Classic pre war details like mouldings and high ceilings. Decent neighbors in the building. Fairly spacious rooms.
Cons:
Signs that point to poor maintenance and possibly even structural issues like sagging floors, cracks in walls, and random creaking noises when nobody in the apartment or above it is moving. Elevator is ancient and small but surprisingly only broke once in the 2 years I lived there. No laundry in building and nearest laundromat is at least 6 mins away but the better one is 8 mins away. The owner tried to significantly raise rent on all units including rent stabilized ones after facade repairs were completed in order to recoup costs - not sure if he succeeded because tenants fought back and the action was still stalled by the time I left.
Advice to owner:
Consider repairing floors and checking for structural issues.

Decent building, needs better pest control
Former Tenant
Pros:
Relatively clean, elevator building, neighbors were quiet, decent sound isolation
Cons:
The apartment floor was completely slanted, holes in the walls led to mice constantly entering

Fine for what you pay for
Former Tenant
Pros:
Relatively clean, good heat.
Cons:
There was a mouse in my apartment. Hard to get in contact with landlord. Sent back security deposit late.
Advice to owner:
Be more involved

Cons:

Great location, subpar management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, near subways, prospect park, good access to stores and restaurants
Cons:
Really unresponsive management, at least one bed bug infestation while we were there affecting ours and multiple other apartments. Super changed every month or so, never knew who to contact

Not too shaby
Former Tenant
Pros:
Walkable nabe and convenient to trains. Nice size apts and sweet super
Cons:
Lack of attention to details. See a cockroach ever few days. Offers biweekly extermination, but not reliable or convenient.
Advice to owner:
Pay attention to the details. Give access to the roof, respond to calls, and offer other ways to pay rent
