A Building for Neighborhood Locals
Pros
The building isn't huge so there's not too many extra people around, and you get familiar with people's faces pretty quickly. Most of the tenants have been living in the building for at least 2 decades. It's essentially the only apartment on the block, so the street is very quiet. Theres a parking lot (done by lottery) so you have the opportunity to have your own parking spot, but street parking is pretty good also. Laundry is in the basement with plenty of machines, and is affordably priced at $1.50. The apartments have high ceilings with great floor and closet space.
Cons
The super/porter can take their time with cleaning sometimes. There were a couple instances of some graffiti on the wall that took far too long to clean up/paint over, and I've walked past some of the same spills or dirty spots multiple times in the day. While all the apartments are cut differently, my apartment only had one small window in each room, which made for very limited lighting, and that took acclimating too as it definitely affected my mood when I first moved in. Roaches are a thing in the building but it's not an overwhelming problem, and the exterminators come in the building every two weeks on a schedule that is publicly posted for tenants. Also this building is not ADA friendly at all, so if you have issues with stairs, this is not the building for you.
