Baited And Switched
Pros
The building itself is very nice looking and secure, most things work as expected.
Cons
It is impossible to get into contact with management. When we signed our lease there were no businesses in the retail spaces in the building, however 3-4 months into our lease, the management company decided to rent out the retail space to a powerlifting gym. The gym is open 24/7 and has people dropping hundreds of pounds of weight to the ground which causes a lot of noise all day as well as physically shaking the building and items within our apartment.
Great amenities, scary elevators
Pros
The people that maintain the building are really thorough; it's always super clean. The amenities are beautiful and well-appointed. Neighbours are really nice and considerate for the most part.
Cons
Though it's a brand new building, a lot of repairs are ongoing due to shoddy construction work. For example, the wallpaper is peeling off the hallway walls on most floors. We also moved into cracked tiles and chipped mirrors in the bathroom, among other defects. The elevators break down frequently, and people have been stuck in them many times in the past six months. Finally, property management doesn't honor the incentives offered by the broker team. We were told that the first 12 months of amenity fees would be waived as a move-in incentive. However, we started getting charged after 6 months.
