Apartment Great, Management Not So Much
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Location cannot be beat. - Price for location and two bedrooms is great. -
Cons:
- Would often require tenants, with little notice, to be present in apartment to let in maintenance workers. Added problem: maintenance workers were almost always late. Often resulted in at least one tenant being stuck in apartment for hours.
- Heat was faulty: when working, it was overwhelming (always kept it on the lowest setting, and was still so hot we had to open windows in winter). Occasionally, it would be shut off for repairs with no notice (as would gas) and once resolved, still had to wait hours for heat to come back.
- Neighbors were incredibly loud, often late into night. Neighbors also used hallway as personal and storage space.
- Pigeons were always around building, and front door was covered in bird poop. Often led to carrying pigeon feathers inside as they stuck to shoes.
- Maintenance issues were sometimes not fixed immediately (e.g. leaks, plumbing issues).
- Communication about changes often didn’t happen. When location we drop rent check off at closed, we weren’t given a new way to pay rent until we asked on the last of the month. Our garbage schedule had to be changed, and we weren’t notified until I inquired about a written warning our apartment received from sanitation.
- After signing lease, couldn’t move in for first 5 days due to painting. When moving out, asked if we could early to allow for painting for new tenants.
- Have yet to receive security deposit back.
