Some great apartments, awful management and owners
Former Tenant
Pros:
Some apartments renovated and in great condition, generally friendly neighbors in building. Most (all?) have private washer/dryer and dishwasher. Building used to be full of long term renters and now is constant turn over.
Cons:
They do not keep up with building maintenance, trash area left messy and cardboard left in lobby. Not on top of apartment requests for maintenance issues. The building owner is a large property group that’s in it for money only, does not care about the people at all, and has forced many people out of this building and others by price or refusing to offer a lease. Would steer clear because of management and owners alone.
Advice to owner:
Clean the floors frequently, manage the space better, open the roof access

New owner and it is all down hill from there!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, nice apartment, great neighbors.
Cons:
Ownership changed and the building and its unit were immediately viewed as cash cows. Funded by the texas board of education fund this was one of the hundreds of buildings bought with the sole goal to seek returns on investment. McNam management is a sham, they are just a shell inside of a larger organization and even that name has changed to Firestone management now so I hear. They are impossible to reach, send emails via no response addresses, and have a wildly complacent super who also cannot be reached. The building used to be cleaned once a month and pest control was sent around once a month. Now the super is rarely at the building, it hasn't been cleaned in years, pest control and sends random workers to deal with overflowing garbage. Yet they raise rents by extreme amounts year over year. When I fire broke out on the roof in 2021 they expressed no concern for the tenant's safety and focused quickly on trying to lay blame. I heard this used to be a building full of long-term tenants but like myself, there is a year-to-year changeover. I have even heard that some people hoping to renew were not given the legal notice, then only received increases but no lease. It's a tragedy to see this happen to more and more buildings around the city.
Advice to owner:
Treat people better, treat the apartments like homes and not stocks.

Terrible landlords, be careful. Building is filthy and full of rodents.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The people who live here are great. There used to be an amazing roof deck that burned down. The neighborhood is wonderful.
Cons:
The management company is made up of investors who do not care about the well-being of residents or health and safety issues. The only concern is for their bottom line. They attempt massive rent increases (in our case 20% from our original deal) at the conclusion of leases forcing people out, then lower rent for the people coming in.
Advice to owner:
Be human beings for once.

Amazing Location, Sub Par Management
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location of 1 Lincoln is incredible. You really cannot beat it. This quaint building is in the heart of the best neighborhood in Brooklyn. There are only ~ 9 units in the building, so many of the neighbors are very friendly.
Cons:
The new management (as of 2019/2020) tried to DRASTICALLY (~10%) raise rent during the pandemic. It was extremely inconsiderate and they left very little room for negotiation.

They do not keep the common spaces clean on a regular basis. (The previous management cleaned them weekly)

We had a pretty severe mouse and ant problem that took them weeks to even acknowledge. The super was very helpful once they were aware of the problem, but the management company themselves basically ignored our issue.

The roof deck is only available to the three largest units in the building. Given its size and only 9 units the building could consider providing access to all.

Someone was stealing packages in the building and it took management MONTHS 59 to respond to our emails for help.
Advice to owner:
Find someplace else to rent. This place is expensive with little added amenity or benefit.

We love the apartment but the new management is disappointing
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location! Great location on 5th Ave in Park Slope. We also love the layout of our apartment with the large windows. The neighbors are mostly friendly.
Cons:
Management is sketchy. They are unresponsive and do not do a good job keeping the hallways and stairs clean. The garbage area can be a disaster at times as well. They tried to raise our rent during the pandemic despite rents in the area for comparable apartment being less.
Advice to owner:
Be present and do better with the upkeep of the building.
