Not worth it
Former Tenant
Pros:
At first the rent was cheap and it seemed like a good deal. But slowly realized that it came at the cost of having a peaceful, quiet, and functioning apartment.
Cons:
Nosy landlord obsesses over tenants. Watches you and your guests enter and exit. Maligns tenants to the neighbors. Complains about normal sounds - ie walking around but then also blasts music from their apartment. They will also blast their music from their cars parked in front of the apartment at late hours and early mornings. They have no regard for the people they rent to. The landlord's whole family also lives on site. Constant domestic issues including calling 911 and possible drug abuse (bizarre behaviors- screaming, banging on walls etc). They clearly don't want to rent the apartment but have to. They also rely on it being less than a 4 unit dwelling so renters don't have the same legal protections against their shady business practices. The plumbing has constant issues and if they try to repair they send unlicensed handymen who make half-assed repairs that don't last and usually make the problems worse. They add fees or increase rent with less than two weeks notice. Will attempt to only collect rent by cash and then get angry when you request a simple receipt (likely they are dodging the IRS and not reporting the rent as income). The carpet has never been replaced and is disgusting. Even after paying out of my own pocket to shampoo, the 20+ years of wear and unfixed leaks, leave it with an awful aroma requiring constant ventaliation/ febreeze. The apartment also has broken AC units that the landlord refuses to replace. Built in microwave is broken as well which they also refuse to replace or even remove. After multiple leaks from both holes in the ceiling and pipe issues the lights flicker. Likely corroded wiring from water. Also annoying old loose outlets.
