Manipulative Landlord & Family

Pros:
Location, proximity to train lines, supermarket and laundromat.
Cons:
The landlord rents out the first floor apartment as a 3 bedroom apartment but one of the rooms is an illegal room. It has no window, no ventilation. The landlord knows it is illegal but threatened to tell the judge it’s an office to get off with that. The home is owned by an older woman, her daughter lives on the second floor, and her son functions as the landlord. He complains about doing his legally obligated duties and then blames the tenant. He threatens not to pay for extermination and blames you for the presence of any spiders, etc. Unfortunately one of my roommates brought bedbugs home and the landlord berated me and called us dirty people and tried to tell me that if that happened again, we would be paying for the extermination. The daughter upstairs is actually a cool person, my only complaint is that she blasts music too loud at late hours.
Advice to owner:
Don’t let your son manage the property. He’s unprofessional, rude and tries to intimidate tenants.
