Stay on her good side, if you can
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is wonderful. The layout really makes it so easy to live with roommates. Each room occupies a different side of the house so it feels very private. The living room is so sunny and the backyard is such a treat.
Cons:
Ethel is a nightmare landlord. She patrolled our house regularly. She tried to take our entire security deposit - threatened to call the cops when we continued to text and email her about returning our security deposit. I had to eventually find all of her rental property addresses and serve her with paperwork. It was only after that she gave us back our (hefty) security deposit.

It’s great until it isn’t
Former Tenant
Pros:
Backyard, duplex, parking spot, the owner was responsive and fixed issues quickly.
Cons:
15 days before the lease expired the landlord still hadn’t renewed the lease and last minute said it was a bidding war and was increasing rent and we had to sign a 2 year contract. Which was illegal. She didn’t give a 30 day notice and went against the lease. We called the landlord out and we got a 30 day notice to leave the apartment. Really unprofessional and illegal
