Roach and rat central
Former Tenant
Pros:
Never hear anything from neighboring apartments except in the hallway
Cons:
Hallway is kinda gross. And finding roaches these days. On top of the never ending streak of roaches, I’ve lately been getting rats. This is despite the fact I keep my home immaculate. And now they want to raise the rent everywhere. How about fix the pest problem first and have a sanitary place for your tenants. Not a unit that smells like rat piss.
Advice to owner:
Better pest control

Old building with cockroaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
Doormen are all awesome. Close to the G. Nice park across the street. Short walk to downtown Clinton Hill/Pratt area.
Cons:
Full of bugs. I’ve seen cockroaches in the halls, the trash room, coming out of drains, and from under doors. It’s like someone made a building to specifically house cockroaches and people just happen to live here. Management company will not communicate in any way. Literally. Building is starting to show its age and carpet tears aren’t repaired, elevator buttons will be broken for weeks, plastic is peeling on fire doors, etc. All that I could deal with, if it weren’t a roach motel.
Advice to owner:
Invest in actual extermination. Put more than $0 money into upkeep. Have a means for tenants to contact you.

Many amenities but difficult management.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartments have many amenities and oftentimes views of the Manhattan skyline. The building is safe and kept reasonably tidy. The lobby is well maintained. Package room operates smoothly. The super is often readily available. You can basically leave any large pieces of furniture you don’t want in the basement/parking garage.
Cons:
The large “communal” terrace outside of the laundry room is not accessible (although advertised as such). There is no cold storage in the package room as advertised. The recycling bins are often at capacity for days at a time. The only super is sometimes not available for days at a time. The clothing drop off on the basement is buried in a pile of clothing bags from not being attended to (for years?). Lastly, management will oftentimes budge but not without creating hurdles first. It’s a bit of a back and forth battle about most requests (appliance fixing, bringing someone new onto the lease, would not offer any leniencies for COVID19, etc).
Advice to owner:
The terraces need attention. The clothing bin in the parking garage needs attention. We would have stayed if the management had been more receptive to our questions and concerns. The management office does not treat their respectful tenants as valued customers.
