Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant experiences at 333 Greene Avenue showcase a mix of strong points and challenges. Positively, residents praise the building's attractive, light-filled layouts, spacious units with updated kitchens, and numerous amenities including gyms, terraces, and doormen who are generally friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is quiet and desirable, adding to the appeal. However, pest control, especially roach infestations, is a common concern despite monthly treatments, with some tenants reporting ongoing issues. Management responsiveness varies, with multiple reviews citing slow or inadequate handling of maintenance and pest problems. Noise levels tend to be low, and neighbors are mostly well-regarded. Heating and cooling systems receive mixed reviews, with complaints about noise and inefficiency. Overall, the building appeals to renters valuing location and amenities but may disappoint those seeking prompt management and pest control.

Reliable, Pretty Nice Building

Pros

Fast elevators Nice doormen They replaced the super and the new one is great Clean building Exterminator comes every month I don’t hear my neighbors much Pretty well-constructed for a new build Management deals with serious issues quickly

Cons

The AC and heating units are loud High electricity bills from the windows The per apartment water heaters are a little small The layouts all suck in some way. You have to be creative about your layout Generally bad closets/storage

Advice to the owners

Doorman turnover is really high

I got stuck in the elevator and we had roaches, but it's very pretty

Pros

The major pro of this building is that the layouts are beautiful, the location is quiet and idyllic, and the amenities are plentiful (gym, in-unit W/D, elevators, huge terrace) — especially for a rent-controlled unit. The terrace is beautiful and there is so much light from every angle.

Cons

Over the course of one year of living here, our unit dealt endlessly with an infestation of roaches that perplexed the (at least) six different exterminators who sprayed our apartment. Management was horrible to deal with — a weaponized incompetence that even led a previous super to quit — but did budge in giving us two weeks of rent off after months of emailing them to no avail. Not to mention, I got stuck in the elevator for almost an hour, since the (new) super "couldn't find the key" to open the broken lift, so I had to wait in darkness while the fire department came down and pried open the doors. Even with rent control, you would think that the amount you pay for this place would at least buy you a roach-free year and the opportunity to escape from a pitch-black broken elevator in under 20 minutes. But there is in-unit W/D.

Renter Q&A

Are neighbors loud or are walls not well insulated?

Wall are not well insulated. Our apartment shares a wall with the gym and we can hear weight that’s dropped

Walls aren’t super well insulated. Across the hall neighbor’s children were heard constantly as were his work zoom calls.
