Management indifferent and not helpful
Former Tenant
Pros:
Spacious, quiet, nice rooftop view
Cons:
Appliances kept getting broken, maintenance team ignored all the requests, garbage not removed
Advice to owner:
Care or at least pretend to care about their tenants

Spacious and great location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lovely staff, spacious apartments, A/C and heaters are great, lots of elevators, the view, and great location for almost trains and parks
Cons:
Some of the community spaces take longer to get fixed, 421a fees can become outrageous, dog friendly building but some owners don’t respect the common spaces with their dogs (untrained or letting them go at the front door)

We had a good overall experience at the Brooklyner
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice roof deck with amazing views, no broker fees, decent amenities (that most other tenants didn't take advantage of), never saw any bugs/pests, almost never heard noise from neighbors, management is responsive to work orders for fixes in the apartment, washer/dryer and dishwasher in unit, good access to public transportation
Cons:
Elevators could be unreliable for very busy, package room system was hectic and sometimes unreliable, somewhat small floor plans, not willing to negotiate on rent renewals, neighborhood is light on things to do and sometimes a bit sketchy in places,

Good overall experience with this landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Free amenities that are not over-used. You can usually get a seat on the roof or space in the gym. The building is responsive to issues with lighting and appliances in the kitchen.
Cons:
Laundry room had lots of issues, and the landlord wasn't the most responsive. Issues mounted and they ended up switching laundry service providers.

Great place to live, neighborhood is weird
Former Tenant
Pros:
Building is great, one of the best rooftops in the city. good gym, neighbors. Staff is professional, responsive
Cons:
Elevators are hit or miss some days, waits can be long. Expensive.

Great in general, temp control issues
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice amenities, responsive staff, no noise problems with other tenants, have not encountered pests. I can't say enough nice things about the folks at front desk.
Cons:
When the outdoor temp falls into the mid 60s Fahrenheit, the in unit ACs don't work (no central air). My apartment routinely hits 85+ when the outdoor air temp is in the high 50s, which is not great. You'll need to use fans and open windows, which isn't great if you have a pet or a kid.
The problem definitely isn't unique, but it does feel like something you ought not have to deal with at a relatively expensive place.

Brooklyner
Former Tenant
Pros:
Well maintained, great staff
Cons:
elevators are often out and there can be lines to get an elevator. it seems the building is being sold and some things may not be fixed as quickly.
Advice to owner:
i have been happy there.

Sweeping views of unswept neighborhood
Former Tenant
Pros:
The Brooklyner has a lot going for it: amazing views of the city, a beautiful rooftop, a fully functional gym, and units that are mostly quiet with built in AC/heat units. The staff is very friendly. It is steps away from a number of subway stops and there are a handful of good bars and restaurants nearby.
Cons:
The building can have a bit of a hotel feel and the asking price is steep for small units. The neighborhood can feel quite loud and dirty.

Beautiful amenities
Former Tenant
Pros:
The amenities, including the rooftop and the gym, are beautiful and well-kept.
Cons:
Parkay flooring in the apartments are not in great shape and should be replaced.
Advice to owner:
Update flooring.

Loved living here pre-covid
Former Tenant
Pros:
The doorman staff and management are great. Always felt safe. Building very clean. Unit was very clean upon move in. Amenities are nice. Location very convenient.
Cons:
We would still be there if it weren’t for the covid pandemic. Husband and I both work from home now and the apartment didn’t offer enough space to live and work from home.

Pretty Good Place
Former Tenant
Pros:
Views are stunning and it feels like home
Cons:
The laundry room is a disaster and the water temperature is always fluctuating.
Advice to owner:
Listen to what residents want. Stop giving cookie cutter responses to bandage issues.

Decent but Pricey
Former Tenant
Pros:
Being near the top floor provided excellent water pressure and no hot water issues. Never any pest issues.
Cons:
Doormen have their favorites and don’t address anyone else. Rubbish rooms smell terrible.

Great when it’s great, infuriating when it’s not
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, amenities, concierge staff is amazing.
Cons:
Very expensive rent, management is hedged off by their bureaucratic structures- making it difficult to get problems addressed quickly and satisfactorily. The washers and dryers in the laundry room need to be replaced with ones that function well and are reliable.
Advice to owner:
Fix the laundry room. Rent is expensive and it’s not acceptable to have machines that charge $2.75 per load, that can either leave your clothes over saturated, under washed or at worst: BURNT!

Four out of Five
Former Tenant
Pros:
The concierges are great! Special shout out to Kwazi who makes everyone feel at home. Convenience of the building and location is 10/10. Beautiful views. I see the statute of liberty from my room everyday.
Cons:
There’s always a lot of trash right outside by the entrance of the building but the building might not be able to do anything about it because that’s where the trash is picked up. My apartment had a pantry bug infestation but I’m not sure if that was the building or something else. The heater and AC could be newer and certain parts of the apartment feel old like the flooring.
