Continuous rent increases
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartments that share a floor are separated by a hall. Only noise would be from another floor or the hall. Modern building, has high ceilings though some shoddy areas.
Cons:
They raise the rent several hundred dollars each year. They could care less about their tenants. Hot water is paid for by tenants, electric bill can be over $300 depending on use and time of year. There was an issue with bugs. Rats outside. Washer and dryer are not effective, shared by the whole building as well.
Advice to owner:
Don't be greedy.

Nice first apartment, room for Improvement
Former Tenant
Pros:
Quiet, Clean, Nice Appliances, good amount of storage, Nice view from windows+privacy, roof access. Easy commute/subway proximity.
Cons:
Windows don't seal well, inefficient washer/dryer, very steep stairs, ground floor and basement flooded during hurricane from courtyard. Stolen packages from non-residents. Very high utility costs.
Advice to owner:
Please deep clean dryer ventiation+lint trap or please get a better dryer.
