Weird super and moldy walls
Former Tenant
Pros:
I love that there was Central AC/Heat, and in-building laundry, access to the roof, and I lived on the 1st floor with access to the backyard.
Cons:
Sometimes when we weren’t home, the super would come into the apartment unannounced because he had a key. I knew this to be true because there were incidents where we would be home (my ex and I lived in the bottom part of the duplex) and the super would simply knock twice, and walk into the apartment when he wouldn’t HEAR and answer. The time he was caught, he actually had a female friend with him! Claimed he was showing the apartment, but the apartment was full and it wasn’t his first time!
We also had a leakage in the basement due to a storm. There was mold in the laundry mat that wasn’t properly cleaned or maintained and the rotting smell would rise into the apartment. It never got fixed. A few days before my move out, I had to leave loads of furniture and clothing/shoes behind because a whole flood of rain water rushed into the apartment. Never got an apology or compensation. Worst super, worst living situation!
Advice to owner:
Hire a more professional super that respects privacy, and fix the mold issue as well as the crack in the door if you want tenants to actually stay and avoid lawsuit!!
