Great apartments bad management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice apartments with new appliances. Cool layouts. Location is great! Close to everything. Washer and dryer in unit.
Cons:
Landlord and super completely unresponsive. Takes them too much time to fix things. Hard to communicate with them. Those apartments have so much potential but should be managed better.
Advice to owner:
Hire people who can manage this place better. Open up the rooftop and patio. Put some fake grass and tabletops and chairs in the common outdoor area which is gray and dull.

It is difficult to get things fixed
Former Tenant
Pros:
updated apartment layouts with new appliances
Cons:
It difficult to get things fixed in a timely manner. The hot water isnt always hot and it takes time to heat up on some days....unless its winter. in 2020 mice have been an issue.
Advice to owner:
Please follow through on apartment issues in a timely manner

Unresponsive landlord, fight your own extermination battles.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Laundry in unit, close to little cafes, bakeries, and plenty of restaurants further down the avenue. heat/hot water was nice, 10 min walk to subway. 15 minute walk to Astoria park and about 20 minutes for Rainey park.
Cons:
Very thin walls, little sunlight, barely got air circulation, roaches issue -exterminator company they hired is also unresponsive & states they came to your apartment but never did, landlord doesn't really respond on time and even when I moved in I wasn't able to get My keys because they never responded or picked up their calls, so my roommate had to get them for me during their designated time. I work long hours so I tried to work with them but I can't do that if no one picks up their phone or responds to texts. We mainly dealt with the broker because we never got responses through text, call, or email. Currently, my roommate and I are ending our lease and even getting a proper walkthrough done with them, or let alone to schedule one, has been the most trying situation, especially because our rent ends at the end of this month (October). It's become a running joke that we'll never get a response for anything and that we might as well do everything ourselves.

Will update to see if full deposit is given.
UPDATE: the company giving back the deposit apparently had an accountant issue or something with whoever was in charge of our deposits. My roommate and I waited a month and a half for our deposit to show up - so mid-December someone finally got back to us, but again was more like chasing down people that just weren't getting back to us in a timely manner. We both called separately leaving messages to ask what was happening because law states one month. We finally finally get an answer end of December and states that he's mailing our deposit back. We finally get it beginning of January.

Two months to get our initial deposit back is ridiculous. Especially if you are moving out. Although my current landlord is a bit difficult, he at least gets back to us on time for these things.
Advice to owner:
Hire a different exterminator company and respond in a timely manner instead of never responding back to me. It particularly is insulting when you have your read receipts on and no one will respond back. Also, respond back in some way. Or email, not getting a reply back for anything, say, leaving the apartment and ending the lease, is not helpful for you or for your tenants.
