Great choice if you can get a rent stabilized apt

Pros:
- Apt is large for the price with good closet space, decent bathroom
- one of the few truly pet friendly buildings in astoria
- amazing location right by train, tons of restaurants, coffee shops, dry cleaner, grocery store, etc.
- amenities like dishwasher, laundry in building, elevator
- Very nice and responsive super
- management company is organized and easy to reach
Cons:
- old building (and sloppy neighbors) lead to a lot of DIY pest control
- tenants are nice but many refuse to dispose of trash properly in chutes and dump items in the lobby
- living next to a hospital is a constant nightmare for noise at all hours
- not sure if this is the case for all apartments but very hot temperature both in summer and winter
- kitchen is small, no window for air flow
Advice to owner:
Be stricter on tenants who dump their garbage instead of putting it in the chute. Update laundry machine to accept credit cards. Install mirrors and area in lobby for incorrectly addressed mail.
