Lived in apt 3R couldn't last 1 year
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is great. Everything else sucked
Cons:
Landlord is closest thing to slumlord without being one. She's a liar and doesn't care. Tells every tenant she will fix up common area and keeps it dumpy. Shower was awful. Water would go from freezing cold to boiling hot back to freezing cold. Had to actually go to friends apartments in other buildings to shower before work. Got so bad I broke my lease and left after 11 months. Worst apartment I've ever lived in. Stay far away if you want to live in Astoria. Landlord would also go through my garbage and if I threw out a recyclable by accident would knock on my door with my garbage bag to yell at me.
Advice to owner:
Fix up the building, make it look presentable and fix the hot water problem. Recycling tickets are cost of doing business as a landlord. We tried to keep it down but didn't need you knocking on my door holding my garbage bag if you found an ice coffee cup in it
