4 Story PreWar Walk Up in Astoria
Former Tenant
Pros:
Rent stabilized apartment
Cons:
Live on top floor and have dealt with a leak in the roof
Advice to owner:
None
Affordable apartment with some issues
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location with lots of restaurants, bars and gyms nearby, decent rent for the size of the apartments, landlord lenient on pets and Airbnb
Cons:
Older building with poor water pressure and old structure of the building. No amenity. Building repairs not always done by professionals, so some issues such as ceiling peeling caused by leaks from the floor above, tend to recur.
Advice to owner:
Use professionals for repairs

Weigh pros and cons before moving in
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location; Rent is decent compared to others in the area; apartments are larger than newer buildings; easy approval for apartment; landlord very lenient with most things as long as you pay the rent
Cons:
Building is old, sometimes issues with electricity overloading, plumbing issues are chronic; not professionally managed; repairs are done minimally and typically are a temporary patch-up of the issues and likely re-occur just months later; landlord hesitant to address pest issues; building is heated to the minimum required temperature in winter, and heat runs on a timer as opposed to based on outside temperature; very frequent tenant turnover
Advice to owner:
Improve building maintenance will likely decease tenant turnover
