Illegal apartments and horrible landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
None- the basement apartment is horrible and obviously illegal
Cons:
Constantly had roaches in what was clearly an illegal basement apartment. Owner lives on the main floor of the house and the family often screams at each other. The owner keeps things in the apartment and enters whenever she wants. She has laundry in the basement apartment and continues to use the laundry even when the lease is filled. She entered the apartment when I was away once and closed my cat into the closet. The plumbing backed up into the apartment 3 different times during my lease without any offer to pay for my ruined belongings. I ended up breaking my lease early because of the horrible living conditions here.
Advice to owner:
Stop leasing the basement

Illegal garage apartment with rats and roaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location in Astoria
Cons:
Converted garage is clearly illegal and falling apart. Hasn’t been cleaned in years, dirt and rat hair built up on the walls and floors. Owner hoards their property inside the apartment and above it and enter without notice.
