WORST APARTMENT EVER
Former Tenant
Pros:
There are no pros.
Cons:
My apartment has RATS. Not mice. HUGE RATS. Both the basement apartment and first floor apartments have rats here and they run around the entire house. No matter where you move into you will see a rat in this house. We moved into the basement apartment and were lied to and told the gas closet is inactive. Turns out the landlord is a liar about the ACTIVE METERS IN THE APARTMENT and he came into my apartment WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I HAD TO CALL THE POLICE ON HIM! He’s very lucky I didn’t press charges! There are millions of holes all over the apartment. We have caught ten rats in a week. Those holes in the apartment also led to a FLOOD when it rained really hard. Also NOBODY cleans the common hallways and they get full of dead cockroaches. And those gas meters caused a GAS LEAK. The whole building was inhaling gas for MONTHS. And when I called con Edison they said we all have to leave the building because the gas leak would cause an explosion. He did not notify the other tenants! People could have seriously gotten hurt and he didn’t care! And when I expressed to him how upset I was with the gas leak, flood, and RATS which was all his fault he threatened to sue ME. I told my landlord many times about the rats and his response was “This is New York”. He is not a decent landlord. And the apartment is horrible and nothing but problems. Every week there is a problem there. DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS HOUSE. Also nobody takes care of the garbage. If you look at other houses on the block they are cared for, clean and swept. And when it snowed during the winter nobody shoveled the snow. Nobody manages the property! Nobody puts out salt when it snows and nobody shoveled the sidewalk, front yard, or driveway. You got to do it yourself. Also he lowered the water pressure throughout the whole building to save money on water because that’s he only thing he pays for. You can find better in Astoria DO NOT RENT HERE.
