Location is nice, experience not so much
Former Tenant
Pros:
Updated doorbell, shrubbery, staff is very nice. Some neighbors are gems, updated laundry room, close to subways, buses, and trains, Austin St. shopping
Cons:
Roaches is many parts of the building. (In the walls) Two instances of bed bug infestation. Common areas are dark and smells awful. Frightening at night. Management has a history of bullying. Will not update/fix issues they deem not an emergency… so you may live with missing grout for example. Many water shut-offs (often with no advance warning) Unreliable heat. Very pet friendly years ago, then all of a sudden started sneaking in no-pet riders to renewals in contrast to original lease, current tenants need seek counsel. Increases are very inconsistent. 4% last year, 10% this year.
Packages are routinely misplaced
Advice to owner:
Please envision this as your residence, and take into account what would improve quality of life, instead of focusing on updates that will lure in new tenants

Location really has me
Former Tenant
Pros:
I like the area. The community is nice and there’s a sense of security here.
Cons:
The water is always brown. The hallways smell so bad. There’s a severe roach and rodent infestation. Your package may or may not go missing from time to time. The responsiveness to maintenance/up keeping is 2 business days. Building major repair notices are provided same day so it’s difficult to plan with anticipation. Additionally our neighbors were served a search warrant recently so it was scary and invasive. There’s also a sense of discrimination to renters given that in the last three years of living here I have not seen a single POC in the building. The rent have been inconsistently rising and does not match neighbors leases.
Advice to owner:
I don’t have any advice to the owner as the owner is never at this building. This building is managed by 3 people whom all know each other personally/intimately thus creating unfair living conditions and hold zero accountability by the owner to its staff members for doing a mediocre job taking care of the building.
