Fine apartment. Well maintained home.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Spacious and clean. Living room, kitchen, dining room are a great size. Bedrooms are average size and they do the job. Owner lives close by and is responsive. Option to park in driveway. Neighborhood is quiet and clean. The home is completely detached from neighbors so noise wasn’t a concern nor are pests. Very random and possibly unique to Maspeth, but tiny little lizards run around the neighborhood. Don’t be surprised if you see them. They’re harmless.
Cons:
This unit lost a star for the heat because while it is fine and warm, the heat is controlled only from within the unit yet the thermostat is locked. Meaning if you need it adjusted, you need to contact the owner, the owner has to come inside, unlock it with a key, and adjust for you. Not convenient. Even less convenient if the owner isn’t home and you’re left waiting and cold. Also, the owner is nice enough but is quite quirky and has an issue with boundaries. Also they were not always forthcoming or transparent. So ask direct questions to get straightforward answers. I found that limited interactions were best when possible.
Advice to owner:
Keep interactions with tenants brief and professional
