Pray paint over mold
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location. Close to train. Roof top view.
Cons:
Landlord is unhelpful with any requests. Took him our entire first/ half of second month to clean and repaint the apartment when he said it would be move in ready and didn’t even let us prorate the rent. Mold in our apartment that was just spray painted over.
Advice to owner:
Do better

Good apartment for roommates
Former Tenant
Pros:
Definitely good space for the price, laundry in basement, nice building, very cool area
Cons:
Definitely gave it the old “landlord special” when renovating the apartment. Dishwasher falls out of the wall, cracks all over the bathroom tile, Just look closely when you view

Avoid
Former Tenant
Pros:
Near public transportation.
Cons:
Unresponsive owner. Unprofessional and not accountable for any issues with unit or building. Building is not cleaned regularly, trash outside overflows into the street and you can see rats outside the building on a daily basis. Any issues with appliances, plumbing etc? Be prepared to just outsource yourself because owner either does not acknowledge the issue or strings you along for weeks on end.
Advice to owner:
Provide living conditions that are adequate for tenants and have the same sense or urgency that you do to collect rent on making sure issues are taken care of.

You can do better much for your money rats, roaches , deposit theif
Former Tenant
Pros:
Decent looking apartments , roof access , washer dryer in unit though it cost money , responsive landlord during the week
Cons:
Water problems, roaches, common areas not cleaned regularly enough, very thin walls , pretty loud neighbors playing music late, garbage gets very full before takeout. Landlord has tried to steal multiple tenants security deposits. Sent me on a wild goose chase trying to get mine after I had to threaten a lawsuit. Wouldn’t give out his last name to be served or his address. Had to meet at his sketchy office last minute and he was an hour late. Just get a different place seriously it was a nightmare. Have seen several people come and go in a matter of months since I left due to rats and roaches along with labdlord problems.

THIN WALLS!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Cons:
Walls are incredibly thin—within a few months I knew everything about my neighbor just from overhearing her Zoom calls, and I never even met her. Landlord will harass you if your rent is late, even if you told him your rent would be late due to COVID-related circumstances. Landlord will also claim that your bathroom needs to be recaulked “every few months,” claiming the caulk is responsible for the leak into the unit below, when such a persistent issue is obviously due to the plumbing. He’ll send a contractor and contact you dozens of times to try to set up and confirm and appointment.
Advice to owner:
STOP HARRASSING YOUR TENANTS! It is disrespectful to assume we are constantly idling by our phones.

Landlord Kept my deposit, now I have to take him to small claims court
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice building, quiet neighborhood
Cons:
The landlord trying to rip you off, and trying to get any work done in the apartment.
