I love it here
Former Tenant
Pros:
The owner Jan is so fantastic. Responsive, empathetic, helpful, friendly, practical, diligent, and flexible. The apartment I'm in was beautifully renovated before I moved in. It's clear Jan really cares about this building as well as its residents. She had a very extensive lead paint survey done at one point. When my roommate decided to leave unexpectedly she was super understanding and totally fine with me finding a subletter. She's always around (she lives on the first floor) if I need anything but also doesn't intrude at all. The other neighbors are generally quiet and friendly and also keep to themselves.
Cons:
The hallways aren't completely fixed up, there are several broken floor tiles, the walls are dirty, and the skylight leaks when it rains. But the inside of the apartment is gorgeous and very well maintained so I don't really mind that much. Also it's right on a train line, so if you're in a front room, especially with the windows open, the train is pretty loud.
Advice to owner:
Keep it up, Jan, I love it here.
