Good starter apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Best block with seconds walk to 3 great cafes. A piazza on the corner. 1 min to the train and very peaceful neighborhood. The apartment is good value and utilities included. Nice kitchen
Cons:
Older style not luxury
No closet
Advice to owner:
Would be good to have storage

The Scariest Building on The Sweetest Block
Former Tenant
Pros:
A hop skip and a jump from great restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Surrounding area is great. There is also a great view from the roof. I also had a great neighbor who became my best friend during quarantine.
Cons:
When I moved in, the apartment was not cleaned. There was broken glass everywhere, pubic hair all over the shower, and paint splattered on our plastic windows that would never stay open. There was a serious roach and mouse problem exasperated by the squalor conditions of the first floor tenants. Not only did they make the building infested with rodents and bugs, they made it stink and the kids screamed until 3am. The floors and stairs were never cleaned, with dead roaches sprinkling each step. I had to Swiffer my own floor. The apartments were also extremely small. These units had been split at some point during the 70's and are just big enough for one person. My boyfriend and I couldn't handle it anymore. The rent is INSANE. If I wasn't desperate for an apartment I would have never rented there. The property manager will take the cheapest route possible. The people they hire to renovate apartments are unprofessional and do a shoddy job. When they were re-doing the bathroom in the apartment opposite of ours, they hammered the grout out of the tile so much so that there were holes which I used to yell at them to stop. Not to mention this building is haunted, if you believe in that. All in all, that place is a disaster and a fire hazard. I didn't even mention that after two years of asking for a LOCK ON THE FRONT DOOR they never put one in. A known addict who lives in the building next door just waltz into the building and started banging on everyone's doors, strung out of his mind. There are random bike parts locked to the front and the stoop is not one you could sit on and enjoy and ice cream cone.
Advice to owner:
Don't run a building if you can't do it right. You are overcharging people, and putting them in dangerous positions, especially with the lack of any security.
