No major complaints
Former Tenant
Pros:
I don't have any major complaints and I don't plan to move any time soon.
Of particular note: The building super is usually quick to respond about issues. My unit has been well maintained. Heat works well in winter (sometimes too well, haha). Neighborhood and location are unbeatable. Size of my apartment is great for the price.
Cons:
There is a bit of a roach problem, even despite the fact that the building has an exterminator visit monthly. It is an old building of course and so this is not uncommon, but I do wish there was more being done proactively about the issue. I have tried myself to take proactive measures in my own apartment, but am still frequently seeing tiny roaches, which makes me believe it is a building infestation.
Packages are often stolen from lobby, which is frustrating.

Pros and Cons, but mostly cons
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is responsive, the public areas are cleaned regularly, trash is taken out on time, the rent is cheap for the square footage I’m getting, the neighborhood is nice and quiet, close to the train and several buses, close to Fresh Pond and lots of shops and restaurants
Cons:
The apartment I moved into was incredibly dirty. I spent several hours cleaning. Roaches come up through my bath drain, even though they spray regularly. They are small roaches, so it seems to be an infestation of the building. The windows are terrible, the cold comes in immediately. The floors are thin and I hear every noise from my upstairs neighbor. The furnace is incredibly loud and wakes me up at night. It sounds like a UFO hovering outside, it’s really bizarre. Rent is cheap but not sure it’s worth it anymore. And I don’t have any contact info for the owner, only the super
Advice to owner:
Make significant upgrades and your residents will be much happier in the long run

Not the worst building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighborhood and convenience. I do miss this area. Building was ok. Rent was affordable. Super only fixed things well if you were polish. Building was quiet — lot of elderly tenants maybe that’s why.
Cons:
Mice. Walk up(sometimes depending on my day). Landlord would carryon and give you a sob story if something had to be fixed. Very dramatic. New super pushed out old super. New super not so good.
Advice to owner:
Stop the Dramatics. Just fix it.

Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, exterminator comes monthly( for the most part), good heating
Cons:
Interior of building not maintained bathtub constantly peeling floors in my apartment aren’t leveled and also have cracks between walls weren’t properly sealed so bugs can crawl in repairs never happen even if you bring it to their attention
No sanitation measures in place throughout covid, building is filthy
Advice to owner:
Maintain building better and be more responsive when issues are brought to your attention
