Miserable experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, 3 beds, 2 bath
Cons:
1. Had to walk on eggshells because neighbor downstairs would complain about noise even if there wasn’t any, just because the wooden floor creaks, its not our fault. We were so nervous about every step we took.
2. Landlord would do a half a** job on repairs and they cut off the electricity to my fridge once because they wanted me to move out.. even though I was paying my rent, which brings me to my next point.
3. They took me to court on a “holdover”. I didn’t understand why, I was able to pay my rent and I kept the apartment as clean and quiet as possible. When I asked them why they were taking me to court they said, “this place is too big for you, its 3 bedrooms and you’re only 1 person.”Why does that matter?? My mom had passed away from breast cancer and my dad became depressed and started drinking more, he got arrested, and was sent to a mental hospital afterwards, I was left alone at home but I was an adult, WILLING & ABLE to pay the rent! I was paying my rent and putting up with the b*tvh downstairs in the most courteous way possible!!
Fast forward: Im still homeless 5 years later because I LOST my section 8 voucher due to this crap, landlords don’t want to use this in NYC and I’m not able to live with family. I spoke with their lawyer because I really wanted to negotiate something with them and he told me that since the property was less that 3 units they could ask for a holdover and give no reason for it. I’m focusing on school right now, might join the military in order to stabilize myself but what they did to me, still hurts but I know that God is watching and vengeance is his, not mine.
