Bad experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cheap, cute neighborhood
Cons:
This place is way too small to host the amount of tenants it does. 6 people (one in attic, one with separate entrance) in a very tiny house. Basement also would randomly get rented out (I think through air Bnb) and landlord would sometimes even let his friends sleep on our couch for indeterminate amounts of time (couch was in hallway outside someone’s room with curtain wrapped around). Landlord lives in OK and doesn’t care about tenants except to take their money, one roommate acts as the interim landlord and it creates an uncomfortable power imbalance (also very very catty) overall an awful living environment full of catty people. My room had heating issues (the heat never stopped it was constantly swelteringly hot, I had to keep windows open in winter) and the kitchen was infested with moths. This place is also very far from the city so commuting was a nightmare. This place is very cheap for New York standards but even then it’s not worth it
Advice to owner:
Give up on this place or do a deep fix up. Rent to less people. Better yet sell it to a family that probably needs it instead of renting a cramped house to a bunch of adults.
