We use both renters self-reports and the annual DHCR registrations to determine if a building has rent-stabilized units. It is possible that a landlord missed an annual registration and therefore the info is not reflected on openigloo. We update this data when the city updates their records. Not Worth It
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lots of space, washer dryer in unit, nice kitchen, 2 bathrooms, bright natural light on first floor.
Cons:
Careless renovations covered up big problems with temporary solutions. Terrible pest control (we’ve had several cockroaches, ant infestation, several mice, rats in the walls and the boiler room, fly infestation). Boiler room had several issues during our time here, with workers coming by every few weeks to fix plumbing, sewage, gas pipes, heat, and flooding. Gas leaks. No thermostat was installed when we first moved in. Had an incident with the original “garbage sorter” where a tenant was injured. Packages are left on the stoop and stolen. Leaky roof had to be fixed. No Certificate of Occupancy (aka inspection) was granted before we moved in, or during the entire 2 years that we lived there. Drummer/band lives next door and practices late into the night. Neighbors throw loud parties several times a week, which is most noticeable by the room in the front of the house which can hear every single whisper the neighbors are saying.
Advice to owner:
The walls of this house need to be cut open. Re-do all the plumbing, electricity, and heat before this property completely falls apart. You also need to treat inside the walls to remove pest infestations and prevent it from happening again (patch up all possible holes/entry points). Then maybe this house will be worth the rent.
