RENTER BEWARE! SLUMLORDS!
Former Tenant
Pros:
There are no pros
Cons:
Illegal Cellar/Basement Apartment. Mold, constant leaks, crack in foundation, sump pump to use toilet and shower. Roaches, ants, centipedes. No heat. Landlord doesn’t want you paying the with a check. Landlord doesn’t provide rent receipts and when asked for one he broke down doors after argument. Landlord does not fix any mold or leaks. Landlord takes advantage of the need for a place to live and exploits that to their advantage by not fixing anything.
Advice to owner:
Don’t be a slumlord

Slumlords! STAY FAR AWAY!
Former Tenant
Pros:
There are no pros
Cons:
Illegal basement cellar rented out for cash only. Landlords require cash payment as it’s an illegal apartment and won’t provide rental receipts as required by law. Bathroom is drained by a sump pump that malfunctions frequently and sometimes floods the apartment. Landlords take months to make repairs if any and do a really cheap job. Apartment has no proper ventilation so mold builds up in walls and foundation. When mold is visible landlord paints over the black spores. There is a frequent leak in the kitchen that causes massive water damage 3-4 times a year. Foundation of the building is cracked so when it rains hard there are leaks in the 1st floor unit as well as the cellar basement. Multiple leaks have damaged my furniture and landlords won’t cover any expenses but will always show up the 1st of the month demanding rent payment. Every winter you can count on the boiler going out in the middle of the might and wait days for the landlord to fix. Landlord has gotten violent multiple times if these issues are addressed. Stay far away, you will live in hell and compromise your health.
Advice to owner:
Make proper repairs and stop taking advantage of people
