Descent Place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Front desk workers are awesome. Very close to the subway. Units are nice.
Cons:
Monthly amenity fee AND cost to use amenities for 6 or more people. Outside spaces has a lot of loud noise because of the building next door. The AC units are very loud. When moving in the unit was not in good condition, and the building thought this was acceptable to rent out to another tenant.
Advice to owner:
Use another web platform for management.

Beautiful building, horrible building management
Former Tenant
Pros:
This building is beautiful. Layouts are spacious and giant windows lets in lots of natural light. Hands-down one of the best working staffs I have ever had the pleasure of renting with. Every one of them is super friendly and knows your name and is always willing to help or lend a hand.
Cons:
The only thing really to knock this building for is the absurd reason they decided to use Barbie-sized appliances. I am not exaggerating. All of the appliances are small… the microwave, the dishwasher, the refrigerator, the washer and dryer… even in a two bedroom two bath these appliances are barely enough for one person. They are literally like 75% your typical appliance size. The microwave won’t even fit a standard size plate. For that matter, it doesn’t fit in the dishwasher unless you raise the upper tray. Also, specifically with the washer and dryer – which you have to pay an extra 75 a month for end they use capacitive touch buttons instead of physical buttons and they respond maybe 20% of the time so you repeatedly have to hit the buttons just to turn the thing on, which again you’ll have to do many times considering how little you can actually put in these units.
The biggest complaint however is the management. not only can they be nasty — and I have several emails to prove this — but they are also unrealistic as to what the current market is. They also don’t value long-term tenants. I rented for three years. Never missed a single payment never had a single complaint against me and to the contrary, I always go above and beyond with the staff buying them lunch or bringing them things. But did the owners do anything to keep me? They treat new tenants with more incentives than me. It makes absolutely no sense. And like I said they can be rude.
Advice to owner:
The first thing you need to do is learn to be loyal to those that I’ve been good to you and your property. You take care of your people. I’m not saying you have to match competing offers of other properties, but don’t insult your tenants either. And also, upgrade your appliances. With the sheer cost that rents are in this building, we should not be struggling to fit a single blanket in the wash for fear of it being too much. We also shouldn’t have to use medium size plates in our microwaves. (On that last point, I did successfully convince them to at least replace the microwave and the on-site manager was also wonderful to work with. But not the leasing office.)
