Historic building with key design flaws
Former Tenant
Pros:
20 West St. is undoubtably a historic and beautiful building with many amenities with solid rental and sale deals. The building has spacious 2 and 3 bed options that can fit families and roommates, as well as, many 1 bed and studio options.
Good location, MASSIVE gym, nice lounge and cool rooftop (when open). Reliable doormen and concierge, relatively reliable handymen.
Cons:
I have lived in apartments on the 4th (first floor of apts) and a higher up floor in multi bedroom units.
On the fourth floor, we had a mouse problem, which was difficult to deal with. The apartment had scaffolding across it’s only window and this may have been an entry point.
One of the key flaws for many multi bedroom units is a serious lack of light. The furnishings may be nice but if you can’t tell what time of the day it is because there’s limited natural light, it starts to bring your mood down, especially in a pandemic.
Constant construction around the building, elevators have many issues as well. A lot of the HVAC units are also ancient and need replacing.
Advice to owner:
Fix the elevators please. The condos are either individually owned or owned by management companies so expectations to fix in unit issues will fall on their shoulders.
