Don’t do it
Former Tenant
Pros:
Large apartments, but you can find that ANYWHERE in Washington Heights
Cons:
Building management extremely antisemitic. Super would blame my apartment for throwing kosher wine bottles down the garbage chute (among other things that we didn’t do). He would literally knock on our door and berate us and yell at us. I wish I videotaped it, it was humiliating. We would also be yelled at by the super for the most random of things, rudest man in the world (and we’re saying that as NYC natives). Not a nice building whatsoever. We had tons of things break in the apartment and they were never fixed. We lived for two years without a buzzer to the lobby, a working dishwasher, etc.
Advice to owner:
Get a nicer super. Dont raise rents when an apartment has no amenities being fixed. Don’t get offended when someone says there’s a problem, take it seriously. Be apologetic, work with your residents not against them.
