Peaks and Valleys
Former Tenant
Pros:
Recently renovated, albeit cheaply. Good water pressure and reliable heat. Decent for the price, very close to transit
Cons:
Horrible neighbors, absent super. Garbage piling up constantly, which was just under my bedroom window. Extremely loud on all sides— super across the hall, neighbors in the adjacent building, and the people upstairs. One night I sat and laughed at the absolute cacophony from all sides. Landlord did the minimum, I never met him. It took sending pictures of roaches in my cupboards to convince him to send someone. Also he’s clearly trying to neglect rent controlled tenants in the building so they leave. Had to break lease and get out of there
Advice to owner:
Get a new super

Poor pest control
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close proximity to Manhattan. Nice neighborhood full of culture.
Cons:
Railroad apartments. Poor pest control, long wait for repairs of you’re an old tenant. Newly vacated apartments get complete renovations. Mice and roach infestation. Windows on first floor apartments cannot stay open due to rats trying to get in.
Advice to owner:
You need to do a thorough exterminating and fix up the infested basement. Hire reputable contractors.
