Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant feedback for buildings managed by Mike Spira reveals a mixed experience dominated by significant maintenance and management challenges. Several buildings face serious pest infestations (rats, roaches), mold issues, structural problems, and cleanliness deficits. Responsiveness from management is often slow or lacking, with some tenants reporting unhelpful superintendents and poor communication. While neighbors are sometimes friendly and locations convenient, noise, safety concerns, and unresolved repairs are recurring complaints. A fraction of tenants appreciates attentive supers and good neighborly connections, but overall, many advise improved maintenance, transparency, and responsiveness from management to address pervasive health and safety issues.

Reviews

Former tenant·10 minutes ago

A solid first apartment

Pros

Management is pretty responsive on issues. Neighbors are friendly, building is fairly safe and clean.

Cons

There were some issues like leaks, mice, some faulty electrical outlets. But management did help fix every issue in a timely manner.

Former tenant·7 minutes ago

It's an okay building.

Pros

Good location. Neighbors (in the building) are very nice.

Cons

next door to a halfway house, so there are frequently police & ambulances out front. The entryway usually smells of dog pee. People smoke in the entryway causing everyone who walks through the front door to smell like smoke. The owners of the building had a faulty rent collection online payment system & then blamed the renters for not paying rent even though we had payment history of payment receipts.
