Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews of buildings managed by Kenneth Rotner reveal a mixed management quality across properties. Some buildings benefit from clean, secure environments with responsive staff, reliable elevators, and helpful doormen, fostering positive interactions among neighbors. Yet, other buildings experience severe issues including poor heating, slow or absent repairs, pest infestations, and plumbing problems, with management often unresponsive or dismissive of tenant concerns. Package theft and lack of certain amenities like bicycle rooms have also been reported. Rent increases occur without proportional service improvements, leading to tenant frustration. Overall, while some properties are well-managed, several suffer from neglect and poor communication, impacting residents' satisfaction.

Building Management Conditions

Pros

Neighborhood and Neighbors are friendly. The building is generally quiet.

Cons

The heat during the winter is inconsistent and sometimes non existent. It has been very cold here for the past few winters. There are constant plumbing issues, pipes are breaking down and water is shut off without any warning at a moment's notice. There has been an ongoing problem with mice and cockroaches. Although they supply four washers & threedryersfor a building of 83 apartments They take absolutely no response stability for maintaining the cleanliness in the laundry room or the breaking down of the units. And they are constantly breaking down. It's up to the tenants to call for repairs. The buzzer system is also constantly breaking. It's only an audio system with auto any cameras, so we can never see who is coming to the door. We do not have a bicycle room even though there's plenty of room in the basement. And we have requested it. We also do not have a male package room.So our packages are constantly being stolen. There are clearly many problems in this building. Our hour rents average, an increase of 9%-10% ten percent each year and we are only allowed a yearly lease. Yet with each increase, there are no services provided.

Advice to the owners

Your tenants are collectively very angry at the treatment we receive. We are blamed for all the problems in the building. You are also blaming our super. You take absolutely zero responsibility for our health and well being. The response time to our issues are slow or just completely ignored. There are many ways to better our environment. But you refuse to address any of our concerns. Our only alternative is to call 311 to file our complaints. You leave us with no other option.
